Star Wars Episode Five: The Empire Strikes Back Review
If it was hard to find a flaw with A New Hope then The Empire Strikes Back is a masterpiece.
The excellent score by John Williams, Darth Vader giving us a monstrous performance, Yoda giving life lessons that are still quoted to this day, and the gang in peak banter mode.
R2D2 is hands down MVP with the amount of back talking, sass, and refusal to take any situation seriously unless he’s being flung from one side of the screen to another.
C3PO becomes the ultimate third wheel with Chewbacca becoming an odd rebound for the dude.
Han and Leia take flirting and multitasking to a new level as they throw remarks at each other whilst being gunned down by Tie Fighters.
Yoda becomes Luke’s spotter as he becomes more ripped than I ever remember Mark Hamill being.
Speaking of Yoda, he and R2D2 duke it out for a keychain torch.
Oh, and Lando gets friend-zoned on multiple occasions.
If this ends up being short that’s because I have nothing but praise for this film!
This is awesome!
When I watch a film and feel like I’m on a journey with the cast then I know something’s gone really right. Not even the odd effects brought over by future versions can ruin this film as it’s just so damn dramatic and entertaining.
From “I thought they smelled bad on the outside” to “No, I am your Father” I was hooked and still am to this day.
This isn’t just a Star Wars movie.
THIS IS STAR WARS!
10/10
